If you’ve never used cryptocurrency before, don’t worry! You don’t need to sign up for a complex trading exchange and wait days for identity verification.
You can buy crypto directly to a personal wallet app on your phone in just a few minutes using Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a Credit Card. Think of it like buying a digital gift card to pay for your subscription.
1. Get a Personal Wallet App
First, you need an app to hold your cryptocurrency. We highly recommend using a “self-custody” wallet app on your phone.
- Exodus or Trust Wallet: Best overall for beginners. Supports almost every coin.
- Phantom: The absolute best wallet if you plan to use Solana (SOL).
- Cake Wallet: The best option if you want to pay with Monero (XMR) or Litecoin (LTC) for maximum privacy.
2. The Golden Rule: Native Coins vs. Tokens
Before you buy anything, you need to understand how crypto networks charge sending fees (called “Gas”).
If you want to keep things as simple as possible, we highly recommend paying with Litecoin (LTC) or Solana (SOL).
Why?
When you send Litecoin, the network fee costs a fraction of a penny, and it is paid in Litecoin.
However, if you want to pay using a “stablecoin” like USDC or USDT (which are pegged to the US Dollar), you have to pay attention to the Network they run on. Stablecoins are like passengers in a car, and you still have to pay for the gas to make the car move:
- If you buy USDC on the Ethereum network, you must also buy some Ethereum (ETH) to pay the gas fee to send it.
- If you buy USDC on the Base network, you must also buy some Base ETH to pay the gas fee.
- If you buy USDT on the Tron network, you must buy some TRX (Tron) to pay the gas fee.
If you buy $20 of Ethereum USDC, but don’t have any ETH for gas, your money will be stuck in your wallet until you buy ETH! This is why beginners should stick to simple, native coins like LTC or SOL.
3. Buy Crypto in the App
Most modern wallets have built-in providers like MoonPay, Ramp, or Stripe. This allows you to buy crypto right inside the app.
- Open your wallet app.
- Click the “Buy” or “Buy Crypto” button.
- Select the currency you want to buy (Again, Solana (SOL) or Litecoin (LTC) are the easiest and cheapest).
- Enter the amount you want to buy. Always buy an extra $2 - $3 to ensure you can cover the network sending fees!
- Pay using Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a Credit/Debit card. The crypto will appear in your wallet in a few minutes.
4. Pay at the Checkout Screen
Once the crypto is in your wallet, go to your NotiFansly dashboard, select your plan, and choose the Crypto payment option. A checkout screen will appear showing you an address and an exact amount to send.
Important Checkout Rules
- 1Send the Exact Amount: You must send the exact crypto amount shown on the checkout screen. If the invoice says to send
0.2452 SOL, send exactly that number. Do not round up to0.25or down to0.24. - 2Check the Network: If the checkout screen tells you to send USDC on the ERC-20 (Ethereum) network, make absolutely sure your wallet is set to the Ethereum network. Sending coins on the wrong network will result in permanently lost funds.
- 3Copy & Paste: Never manually type out the crypto address. Always use the "Copy" button on the checkout screen, or scan the QR code with your phone's camera inside your wallet app.
Once you hit send in your wallet, simply leave the checkout page open. The screen will automatically detect your payment and update within a few minutes once the blockchain confirms the transaction. Your server benefits will unlock immediately!
